A boat addict Cumhur Koraltürk was born in 1939. In Istanbul-Babiali he worked as an artist in a graphic and printing house for a long time. During his time there he had created thousands of label designs.
In his adolescence he started to paint boats. He has been working only in this area for the last 15 years. Doing paintings of not only Turkish; but also alien merchant and battle ships.
The artist adopted a realistic style using oil colours.
Cumhur Koraltürk aims to image the boats left in his dreams on his art. He has paintings in world-wide collections and Istanbul Deniz Muzesi (Istanbul Museum of Sea). He exposed his art to very wide-range of boat fans. The artist who creates model boats together with paintings, has many awards. He had created paintings of some famous boats such as Gülcemal, Cumhuriyet, Tari, Güzelhisar, Kalender and Moda also foreign-ensigned ones.
The details of boats in his paintings are proportional with the photos and plans from his archives.
While some of the boats, which are reborn in the artists paintings are portrayed on a journey; most of them portayed in Istanbul or Bogazici.
